Michael Chirichello, Ed.D.was a County Superintendent of Schools for the New Jersey State Department of Education, a district superintendent, principal, assistant principal and teacher in urban and suburban districts. His school district experiences spanned three decades. Michael was the recipient of the Educational Leadership Award from the New Jersey Coalition of Educational Leaders; the Dale Reinhardt Excellence in Education Award from the Sussex County School Administrators; the Distinguished Achievement Award from the Sussex County New Jersey Education Association; the Distinguished Dissertation Award from Seton Hall University; and the PTA Honorary Life Member Award.

Michael was a Visiting Professor of Leadership at Northern Kentucky University. Prior to teaching at NKU, he was a professor, chair, and program director at William Paterson University.  He taught graduate courses that prepared teachers for supervisory and principal licensure. He has served in these positions for 17 years.

He is the co-author of Principals as Maverick Leaders: Rethinking Democratic Schools (2011) and Learning to Lead: Ten Stories for Principals (2007). He is the co-editor and contributing author of Exemplary Leadership Development: A Handbook for NJ Educational Leadership Interns published by Pearson Custom Publishing (2007). He has also published articles and chapters in books on topics of leadership, the principalship, curriculum design, and dispositions.

Michael is a respected national and international consultant to school districts and professional organizations. He has presented thought provoking professional learning sessions on five continents and throughout the United States that focus on leadership, team building, organizational change, curriculum design, mentoring, the supervisory process, and action research.

Michael enjoys biking and has cycled internationally in Costa Rica, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria.
